SmartCycle was born from a local environmental initiative in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of France, where a number of functional objects and equipment are found on the public streets of Marseille and Aix-en-Provence.
After having found a number of items such as furniture, appliances, ornaments and paintings in the street… Daniel sought to develop a solution to make them available free of charge. This is how the idea of a collaborative urban upcycling community platform came about.
It is the first web platform for local upcycling of urban waste. It is the first participatory recycling platform that operates via geolocating objects, and offering both a web and mobile solution.
This is a practical and long-term solution that enables everyone to access a selection of free and available equipment close to home.
