Traditional methods of manual palm oil extraction make it impossible to harvest a full crop. On average, smallholders lose 50% of palm kernels, which equates to 220k tonnes wasted annually in Liberia.

In partnership with rural communities, J-Palm manages and operates mini palm oil mills, which reduce processing time by 90% and increase extraction rates by 50%. As a result, smallholders have seen their incomes increase by about 80%.

J-Palm also purchases palm kernels from smallholders and processes them into palm oil to create its own range of beauty products including lotions, soaps, moisturisers and shampoo. These are sold worldwide via the J-Palm online shop.
