The Envitech project focuses on how to use cow-dung as a preferred energy source for cooking in rural communities in Sierra Leone.
In a country where 80% of the energy generated for cooking is derived from traditional fuel such as firewood and charcoal, 64% of the total population living in rural areas lack energy for household activities. Envitech therefore offers a real opportunity for development.
By replacing wood with a biomass from cow-dung, Envitech also helps to reduce carbon emissions and promotes the ecological balance and biodiversity of the country.
